The "Japan Initiative for World-leading Vaccine Research and Development Centers " was launched in 2022, and is managed by the Strategic Center of Biomedical Advanced Vaccine Research and Development for Preparedness and Response (SCARDA)  of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED).

The initiative includes a flagship center and four synergy centers, working collaboratively to drive research and development.

Additionally, six supporting institutions provide support roles for such as experimental animal models and genome analysis.

Our shared vision is to protect people from infectious diseases and pandemics. Researchers from all across Japan are joining forces to address infectious disease prevention and vaccine development.
