UTOPIA Research Grants for Young Researchers FY2023 Application Guidelines

The University of Tokyo Pandemic Preparedness, Infection, and Advanced research center (UTOPIA) aims to conduct basic research on new infectious diseases, immunology, and vaccines, and to create innovative technologies to save the world from future pandemics. The center will bring together world-class researchers from various research fields such as immunology, structural biology, AI, and social science, in addition to infectious diseases, to form the core of a new dimension of multidisciplinary research, and will also establish a network with overseas institutions and other organizations. UTOPIA was selected as a flagship center in the "Japan Initiative for World-leading Vaccine Research and Development Centers " and was launched in October 2022. In addition to conducting cutting-edge research on infectious diseases, the center aims to establish a system to promptly provide effective and safe vaccines and therapeutic drugs in emergency situations.

To achieve these goals, research based on novel ideas from young researchers is indispensable. An important part of our mission is to foster young researchers who will lead the future battles against infectious diseases. As part of this effort, from this fiscal year, we will provide research grants to young researchers within the university.

1.  Call for Proposals
